In honor of actor Andy Garcia and his (unintentionally) hilarious reaction to Sofia (Mary Corleone) Coppola's death scene in "The Godfather, Part III."
more old headlines
By the way, I need to mention that Hitmen77 was my personal favorite "Cubune Headline" poster. Some of his headlines were not only laugh-out-loud funny, but very prescient. He wrote a few headlines that were eeriely close to headlines that appeared in the real Tribune a couple of days later. When I complimented him on it, he modestly deflected the praise by saying it was like "shooting fish in a barrel." I always liked to see a new post by him in that thread.
8/24/05:
TRIBUNE FLASHBACK!
2003: America's and God's favorite team in playoffs. Everyone wants them to win.
Inside: Bitter, angry, jealous White Sox fans won't root for Cubs because they're bitter, angry, jealous and make no money. They can't stand to see God's team win.
Today: ZORN: I'm rooting for the Sox to fail because I am a Cub fan who is proud, principled and full of integrity and all Cub fans are the same way.
Besides, those meanie Sox fans hurt our little feelings.

9/01/05:
White Sox win, remain in first place
magic number down again, damn it
DAMON, CARLOS LEE and all other free agents would like to play for Cubs next year.
Our reporter asked them "would you like to play for the Cubs next year?"
(Hey, it was working for Ordonez before he got hurt)
Wycliff column: Is Tribune tampering by asking free agents if they'd like to play for Cubs? Tough ****.
