Cubs, Sox down to wire in finale

The Cubs and White Sox met in the South Side ballyard for one more go-round before being forced by their respective schedules to cease hostilities and carry on with the rest of their seasons. The two teams sent off their fans with the kind of thriller that most of them had hoped for when they plunked down their hard-earned two bucks and change for the best seats in the house....

Cubs, Sox battle continues

Chicago, June 1969

Chicago's North-South Civil War continued today as the first place Cubs hooked up with the fifth place Sox in the second game of this three game set, played in front of yet another near-capacity crowd packing the South Side ballyard to the rafters. Today's duel featured a battle of lefthanders with Ken Holtzman of the Cubs bumping up against Tommy John of the White Sox.

CHICAGO-June, 1969

Chicago's two baseball titans today met at Comiskey for the first of a three game showdown to kick off "interleague play," a brand new concept introduced to baseball this year by the powers-that-be in an effort to increase attendance and take some of the spotlight away from Joe Namath and the boys on the gridiron.

1964 and 1969 APBA

My 1964 and 1969 seasons arrived in the mail today. Now I am whracking my brain
for potential matchups. Who to pit against who? The possiblities are endless. Of course, my "Close Call World Series" between the 1964 White Sox and 1969 Cubs will go on as planned. I'd like to do a couple of games before that.
