at Comiskey Park

The Sox celebrated the Bicentennial with a Sunday doubleheader against the Rangers.

Rookie Francisco Barrios got the starting assignment for game one, which ended up being a thriller.

The Sox struck first with three runs in the bottom of the 2nd, but Texas came right back with two in the next inning. The Sox added to their lead with one in the 4th, but Texas took the lead with three unearned...

Morning games were an occasional occurrence during the dead ball era, when lights for night games didn't exist. They were usually played as one half of a doubleheader, with one game in the morning and one game in the afternoon. The Red Sox still play a morning game on Patriots Day in Massachusetts, which is also the day of the Boston Marathon.

Comiskey Park had never seen any morning games until this Saturday...
