vs. Minnesota Twins
at Metropolitan Stadium

Sox 1st baseman Tommie McCraw is the hitting star of this Wednesday matinee. He hits three home runs and gets a franchise record-tying 8 RBI, becoming the first Sox player since Gus Zernial in 1950 to score a home run hat trick. Two of the homers are off starter and loser Dean Chance. The 3rd comes in the 9th off Jim Kaat.

Starting pitcher Gary Peters allows one run and strikes out 9. He also sees how much fun McCraw was having hitting them out, so he added a solo shot of his own, also in the 9th off Kaat. Sox pound the Twins in this one 14-1.
