May 25, 1969
vs. Boston Red Sox
at White Sox Park

The good news: In this game, Tommy John continues to look good coming back from his shoulder injury. He faces the Red Sox and gives up only two hits in 7 innings, lowering his ERA to 2.65. One of the two hits is a solo home run by 1st baseman George (Not C.) Scott.

The bad news: Red Sox starter Jim Lonborg, also coming back from an injury (he tore ligaments in his left knee during the 1967 offseason and went 6-10 in 1968) was just a little bit better. Lonborg scattered 5 hits and no runs over his seven innings.

Relievers Vicente Romo of the crimson Sox and Wilbur Wood of the pale type both go two innings and give up no runs, ending this one at 1-0 in favor of the Bosox.

This loss drops the White Sox below .500 at 17-18. They will not hit the break even mark again this season.
