vs. Boston Red Sox
at Fenway Park

The White Sox are 0-1 going into this game, having lost the opener to Boston in front of 8,000 Fenway partisans.

Today looks like more of the same as Boston enters the top of the 9th winning 5-4. But in what would be the first of many thrillers for the 67ers, the Sox of White rise up and score 5 unearned runs. They are aided and abetted by the Boston defense, which commits three errors, one by Tony Conigliaro and two by Joe Foy.

Pete Ward contributes his first home run of the season in the 5th inning. The Sox also run like crazy, swiping six bases. Tommie Agee and Tommy McCraw each pilfer two, Don Buford and Ed Stroud take one. Starter Bruce Howard gives up four runs in 5.1 innings, Jack Lamabe gets the win and Bob Locker the save.
