In honor of actor Andy Garcia and his (unintentionally) hilarious reaction to Sofia (Mary Corleone) Coppola's death scene in "The Godfather, Part III."

vs. Cleveland Indians
at Cleveland Stadium

Every once in a while a player hits a home run of such significance that it immediately becomes bigger than the game and passes into legend, destined to be forever celebrated in prose and song. The home run immortalizes not only the batter who hit it, but the pitcher who gave it up. The two are joined together forever, linked by that one moment in time. Babe Ruth and Charlie Root. Bobby Thomson and Ralph Branca....

vs. New York Yankees
at Comiskey Park

The White Sox return to Chicago in 2nd place, but only 1 game behind the Royals. The month of August has not been very kind to them thus far-they are 6-14 going into a two game series with the Yankees, against whom they are only 2-6 on the year.

vs. New York Yankees
at Yankee Stadium

The Sox followed up their power display against Seattle by losing four of their next five, including two to Cleveland and one to Texas on the 12th that dropped them out of 1st place for the first time since July 1. They regained the top spot the next night with a win and held on to it despite losing the next game. Another loss to the Yankees in the first of this two game miniseries dropped them back to second place....

August 9,1977
vs. Seattle Mariners
at Comiskey Park

The White Sox returned home after the sweep in Kansas City and had a simple message for the Royals and anybody else who thought their hat-tipping antics were "bush." That message, essentially, was "screw you."

"I don't know who gave you the idea we might stop acknowledging the applause after our home runs" Chet Lemon told Dave Condon. "We never gave it any thought....
