In honor of actor Andy Garcia and his (unintentionally) hilarious reaction to Sofia (Mary Corleone) Coppola's death scene in "The Godfather, Part III."

The greatest number of runs scored by one team in a regular season game in the 20th century, accomplished twice.

On April 23, 1955 the White Sox equaled the record when they slammed the Kansas City A's by a 29-6 score at Municipal Stadium, Kansas City.

White Sox-Kansas City A's "Unusual" Games trilogy-April 21-23, 1955-56, 1959

Posted 04-23-2010 at 07:55 PM by TommyJohn (No!!Mary!!!)

Today marks the 55th anniversary of one of the greatest games in White Sox (and perhaps baseball) history-the Sox' legendary 29-6 thrashing of the newly-transplanted (from Philadelphia) Kansas City A's. The outburst tied the modern baseball record for most runs scored by a team in one game. The record had originally been set in 1950 by the Boston Red Sox when they laid a 29-4 bashing on the St. Louis Browns. Of course, this is a bit of a falsity-after all, the Giants still exist, so the truer...

The day of the first games of the All-Time White Sox series dawned bright, crisp and clear. There was an unmistakable buzz in the air, the kind that comes in October when postseason baseball comes to town. Four White Sox teams would meet in these semi-final best-of-seven series to determine which of them would earn the right to call itself the "Greatest White Sox team of All-Time." White Sox fans across ages and generations eagerly anticipated the games, many of which would see old Comiskey...
