I have been wanting to get back to my sim tourney, but haven't, I guess because I don't want to get bogged down in minutia. It is one thing to have these "games" it is quite another to actually sit down, analyze them, study them, and offer commentary. So for this first round (which I played in April) I'll merely post the results.

Round 1: 1983 (99-63) vs. 1993 (94-68)

So I decided to have a little fun with my "Greatest White Sox Team of All-Time" rankings and submit them to a tournament to see who would beat who over a seven-game series. Now I have no delusions about how such scenarios would actually play out. It would be enormous fun if we could somehow get all these teams together and see them play-and how it would turn out. So, I sat down to try and measure, statistically, the greatest single-season White Sox team ever. I decided the way to do this was to measure them against the rest of the American League for that particular season. How good were they against the competition? That seemed the fairest way to judge teams across decades, even centuries.

I was reading a book on Yankee myths, legends and such. The dude who wrote it compared the teams considered the 3 greatest in team history-1927, 1961 and 1998 to determine which one was the best of the bunch. He used a bunch of statistics that I don't recall right now, but his conclusion was that it was a toss up. All three dominated in one category or other...
