Opening Night, 2006. It was a festive occasion. The team was introduced as the World Champions and the unveiling of the championship banner was an emotional moment. Then, during the game, the heavens opened up and rained poured down. After a long delay, the game was concluded very late with only 3,000 people left in the stands.

3,000 see Sox win 10-4.
"We didn't think attendance would be this bad. We expected at least 5,000" unnamed Sox source tells Trib.

This next goofball headline was inspired by my being philosophical one night. I looked up into the heavens and saw the stars. I thought "One of these stars might be 88 light years away, meaning the light I am seeing left that star in 1917, the last year before 2005 that the Sox won the World Series."

There are now some headlines which mention William Ligue. No Sox fan needs to be reminded of Ligue or what he did on that infamous September, 2002 night. But the Trib seemed to delight in doing just that. Every time Ligue did something, the Trib website posted the news in sports. The joke was that he was their favorite White Sox fan.
