September was a lively month for Sox fans and the Trib. The team won their first seven games, then stumbled a bit while a super hot Cleveland Indians team that had been 15 games back on August 1st suddenly couldn't lose and started gaining ground. By the way, I need to mention that Hitmen77 was my personal favorite "Cubune Headline" poster. Some of his headlines were not only laugh-out-loud funny, but very prescient. He wrote a few headlines that were eeriely close to headlines that appeared in the real Tribune a couple of days later. When I complimented him on it, he modestly deflected the praise by saying it was like "shooting fish in a barrel." I always liked to see a new post by him in that thread.

This may seem unusual or seem like I am patting myself on the back, but believe me, I am not.

I fondly remember back in July 2005 when Dr. Crawdad started a thread called "You write tomorrow's Cubune headline."
