If they do retain Hawk (and I hope they don't), I think it would be a good idea to return to what baseball broadcasts used to do in the past- have the TV announcers call innings 1-3 and 7-9, and switch with the radio announcers for the middle innings.

It gives the fans a different perspective on the game. Announcers don't need as much material, as they can repeat the same thing on the radio that they said earlier on TV if needed. The don't need as much BS to pad the broadcast.

Part of the grating nature of Hawk is the constant repetition, not just of cliches, but of certain situations. If an umpire blows a call in the first inning, we get to hear "In case you're just tuning in and missed it...." about the same damn call four or five more times in the game. Hawk might be more tolerable in one hour increments. And since Farmer seems opposed to giving the score and game situation on a regular basis, he just might be better on TV.
