I think Rose's record is safe. The closer Jeter gets to 40, the harder it is going to be for him to find a starting job somewhere especially for the salary he has grown accustomed to receiving. He might be able to hang on a few years after that as a backup infielder a la Omar Vizquel (if he would even want that role) but I feel he only has maybe two more years left as a starting SS in this game.
