Former first-round pick of the Oakland A's, he was one of the can't-miss prospects the A's traded to get Octavio Dotel in 2004 in a rather complicated three-way deal that sent Carlos Beltran from Kansas City to Houson. Beltran went from the Mets to the Giants for another first-round draft pick at the trade deadline seven seasons later. Dotel was also part of two other deadline trades, including one made by the Blue Jays who had just acquired Edwin Jackson from the White Sox along with Mark Teahen.
I wouldn't be surprised if Teahen signs a minor-league deal with the A's. Maybe the A's will send him to the Cubs to get Edwin Jackson or the Tigers to get Dotel.
