I just read that he claims that some former Redsox employees encouraged him to use PEDS in 2008. I suppose I believe him unless he's garnering attention for the Hall of Fame. He seemed like he was pretty anti steroids while he played though. I gotta admit now I really look at the Redsox titles as being phony if true.

That's not too surprising. There was another former Red Sox player, Lou Merloni, who said in Spring Training a doctor would speak to Red Sox players about how to use steroids properly and encouraged them to do so.

If this information came from anyone else than Curt Schilling, I might believe it.

it does seem to be true because Schilling reported the incident to the Redsox management and they ended up firing two employees over it. I find it odd that this is the first we've heard about it though. You would think that would be huge news in Boston.

This shouldn't be a surprise...remember the N.Y. Times reported that both Manny and Ortiz failed their drug tests in 2003.
