Viciedo's Contract Status

ESPN ran a feature today noting that there will be no arbitration cases heard this year. Wait a minute, thought I, what about Dayan Viciedo? I read he was arbitration eligible, and I hadn't heard he signed.

Gonzo has been consistent in his opinion is what I was trying to say. Don't know if he's right or not, he usually is up on these things, I'll ask him.

Heard back from Gonzo on this matter. Here is what I originally asked him:

Can you clarify. You wrote in October in the mailbag, Dayan was arbitration eligible and under the Sox control for next year back in October. MLB just announced their were no arbitration hearings this year. Did Dayan agree to a new deal and I missed it? Or was the original assumption changed somehow over the off season.

Gonzo sent this back to me:

Incorrect. Van Dyck wrote he was arbitration eligible. He is ACTUALLY under contract control and SHORT of being arb eligible.

Figure on him earning over 3 million.

I can easily see Van Dyck getting this wrong, he's made some major errors reporting in the past and from what I'm hearing is, for want of a better word, lazy when it comes to some things.
