Thome to Orioles

Rosenthal is reporting that the Orioles have acquired DH/1B from the Phillies in a deal that will be announced after each team's games today.

I like Thome,but he seems to kill Sox pitching and Sox play 4 in Baltimore in August, a series the Sox always seem to have trouble with anyway.
Not good for Sox,but maybe he will beat the Tigers and Tribe also.

The Orioles acquired Jim Thome from the Phillies in exchange for Class A players Gabriel Lino and Kyle Simon.

Thome has still been a better and cheaper DH vs. RHP than anyone else the Sox have had for the ~$35M we've spent on Kotsay/Manny Ramirez/Dunn the past 2.5 seasons-nice to see him get a shot with a team somewhat in contention.

It's nice to see Baltimore being buyers at the deadline for seemingly the first time since the late 90's.
