Default Charlotte in IL Championship Series

...against Pawtucket, but they lost game 1, 7-2, and looked very sloppy doing it. Leesman started and went 1/3 of an inning; he was late breaking for first on a grounder to the first baseman (Seth Loman) and suffered what looked like a serious (knee?) injury when Loman pushed him out of his way en route to the bag. Rienzo relieved and had good stuff, but repeatedly let batters off the hook. Kussmaul relieved Rienzo in the 7th and allowed identical back-to-back moon shots to left. Phegley could have tagged a runner out at the plate but dropped the ball; Short in right failed to get to a ball that turned into a triple.

It would have been worse if not for three double plays.
