I don't know if i'm really for it because like a previous poster pointed out his ops+ is really declining. But then again maybe a change and a healthy season will get him back on track. I have doubts that he will even put up a 130 ops+ type of season though. He can probably maintain a 110-120 ops and thats actually pretty good for a thirdbaseman so he might be worth the gamble.
I always hear how he's a cancer in the clubhouse and he's not getting any younger and are the Whitesox stuck with him for 5 years? i would say he's got maybe 2 decent years left. |

The new report is he wants to stay with the Yankees and he said he still has too much to prove in a Yankee uniform. I'm sure the Yankees, fans and media are gonna love this off season.

If NYY eats enough salary, I'm fine with A-Rod's bat and glove at the hot corner.
Don't see NYY eating enough salary to make JR approve it, though.

At least Thome was good here and Albert Belle only had one bad half. And I suppose you could stretch that back to Steve Carlton and Tom Seaver.

Tom Seaver actually did pretty good for the Sox. I would say he was the overall best pitcher the Sox had during 1984 and 1985. Although he did age fast and had a horrible 1986 season.
Ron Santo, Don Kessinger or Bill Skowron could be some from the 60's and 70's. Jose Canseco and maybe Bo Jackson could be a couple more used up stars. Last edited by chicagowhitesox1; 10-19-2012 at 02:20 AM. |

Seaver won 31 games in his two full years with the Sox and had an ERA of 3.17 in 1985. Hardly a bust in my opinion. Would love to have that on the staff today.
Carlton was only around for a third of a season but he also had good numbers, 10 starts, 63 innings, 40 strikeouts, 3.69 ERA. He was finished to be sure but he didn't embarrass himself or the Sox for taking a shot with him. Moose hit .293 in 74 games in 1964. In 1965 he made the All Star team hitting .274, 18 home runs, 78 RBI's. After that he began to fall off but part of that was because Eddie Stanky (for some reason) wasn't playing him as much. In early 67 some of the other vets on the club Peters, Horlen, Ward told Moose he should go see Stanky and explain that they wanted him in the starting lineup because of what he could do. Moose did so. Stanky told him he makes out the starting lineup and traded Moose the next day. Lip |

How would you guys feel about Curtis Granderson?

Granderson would be a nice addition, but his salary is larger than his production lately. Unless the Yankees are eating a large chunk of his salary, it doesn't make much sense for the Sox.
IMO the real jewel to be grabbed from that roster is Brett Gardner, despite his injury this season. Imagine Gardner in CF, De Aza/Viciedo in left and Rios/De Aza in right, with the leftover guy getting some time at DH. Gardner-De Aza would be a heck of a 1-2 punch at the top of the order. We'd score a lot more runs. |

A few years ago I would have loved him. I just read an article about the demise of the Yankees and they compared a couple Granderson seasons to Adam Dunn seasons. I really don't want that type of player on our team. I agree with Gardner though, he would be a nice player to take a chance on if NYY wants to get rid of him.
