Signed Scott Feldman. Fans must be very patient as the Cubs are not even giving the impression of trying.

Is there any worse franchise in professional sports? I can't believe they're trying to sell Scooter Feldman as a legitimate starter.

I know that when they hired Theo their plan was to rebuild and the way they were going to do that was paying guys waaaay over the slot in the draft. With the new draft rules in place the Cubs can't do that and I am not so sure the Cubs can rebuild in the way they had hoped to.

When you sell 3M+ tickets to watch the second worst team in MLB and the 3rd worst team in franchise history, what's their hurry to rebuild?!
The ballpark and media-created mystique sells tickets, not the peformance of the players wearing the uniform. |

They started Volstad last year. It's an upgrade!

Feldman wasn't great...but then again he was good enough to beat the Sox.

He's always been a good guy, team player. But he is what he is - a long reliever. The 2nd or 3rd time through an order, he gets raked. Good luck going from the penthouse to the outhouse organization-wise, Scooter.

Hey, if they paid you 5 or 6 million a year you too would say everything nice and smile and jump for joy when no one is looking!!

They've had their down moments, but two World Series wins in 19 years is still impressive to me.

That was under different ownership.

One year deals on average players with the possibility to trade them if they over perform i.e Paul Maholm is all the Cubs will be doing for a while.

Yeah, this seems like exactly the kind of deal rebuilding teams make, a one year stop gap you'd have no problem dumping into the long relief role or even outright releasing if the developing players allow you to do so. You need guys like this to make sure the young players aren't rushed, but not stand in their way if they're ready.
