He hasn't been relevant since 2005, although he had a pair of mediocre years in 2006 and 2007. I wasn't sad when he came to Detroit and stunk.

He had a decent time in the minors (2011) for Louisville when he was playing and wasn't completely horrible when called up to the Reds. He quickly retired in 2012 surrounding an injury, so I was wondering if he would ever give it one more shot.

I don't blame the Cubs for making this move, certainly low risk. If he can get back to mediocre for them, he could be a serviceable 4th or 5th starter.

Guy was effective due to the combination of a funky delivery and being effectively wild. Once the league realized this they waited on him, made him prove he can throw a strike then killed it.
