It's especially difficult when a great, classy player like Stan The Man dies.

Great player and a credit to the game. Shook his hand and got his autograph in 1957 at Wrigley.

I cant think of a better combination of HOF talent and HOF charachter. My father was a White Sox fan but Stan Musial was always his favorite player.
Great player great man.

There was no finer gentleman who played the game.

In 1960 the Cardinals were in Chicago playing the bad guys on the Northside. After the game Stan Musial came to our Little League tournament in Bucktown at Churchill Field. He stayed for the games and stayed as long as possible signing autographs. Most people today probably can't believe he did all of this without charging any type of fee. He signed autographs for anybody who wanted one. It's hard to believe that I still remember that so many years ago. Then again how many times does a HOF Baseball Player come to a neighborhood Little League Tournament? He was definitely The Man.

Listening to KMOX, with the Blues game on, the announcer pointed out that on this night the Blues won 6 to 0 for No. 6.
RIP Stan the Man Best. Cardinal. Ever. Last edited by Viva Medias B's; 01-19-2013 at 10:12 PM. |
