Default Mariano Rivera to retire at the end of the season

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/03/...r-this-season/
So ends the #42 among active players.

That's what you choose to emphasize?

Goodbye to one of the greatest 9th inning pitchers (if not the best) in MLB history.

It sucked the Sox lost to the Yanks the day they retired Big Frank's jersey number, but it was the only time I was able to see Riviera pitch and he got a save. Glad I got to see him once.

It seems we always have a closer who makes things interesting and I can't imagine how nice it's been for Yanks fans with Mo in their pen. A helluva career

At the END of the season. This needs to be emphasized in the title or by OP.

I'll still take Eck. Sure, Rivera has been awesome, but Eck didn't even become a closer until he was 34.

Eck had maybe 3 seasons as good as Rivera's average year.

Yep. Counting the regular and postseasons, I don't see how anyone could argue he wasn't the best ever.

Watching his press conference I forgot just how classy Rivera is too. It was a pleasure watching a guy as good as him who had no need for any showboating antics ala Valverde and K-Rod.
