Default Jose Valverde Back With Tigers as CLOSER

I still can't figure it out.

This guy was told by everyone in the MLB he doesn't belong in a bullpen this season and now he has been handed the Closers job.

Craziness.

Funny, I was assured by many people on this board that money is absolutely no object for Mike Illych, the Tigers owner. Yet they made no attempt to sign Soriano, the only viable closer on the open market.

It might not cost them the division, but it'll probably cost them the championship.

This news would excite me if the Sox had an offense that could hit even the ****ty pitchers.

As it stands Valverde's ERA against our losers will probably be 0 with no blown saves.

I look forward to him getting enough saves against the Sox to keep him in the closer spot, only to melt down in the postseason again. This guy's failures make me wildly happy.

Can you imagine the fun we would have if the Tigers acquire Marmol to set-up for Valverde?

According to Jayson Stark, Tigers are 0-6 in games decided after the 7th inning.

Still acts like a clown in spite of the fact that he started the year without a gig!

What a jackass!

You can't spell closer without loser.

Valverde had another blown save last night (second in 2 weeks) and has given up 5 HR in his last 5 1/3 innings.

My girlfriend called me at 5:00 this morning, screaming for his head on a pike. The Tigers need to make a move.

Nick Castellanos and another prospect for Addison Reed. A young closer is a luxury. I know we probably won't trade in the division, but this move would make a ton of sense for us.
