They should have signed D. Wise.

I saw him pitch for the Capital City (Columbia SC) Bombers in 04, when he was in the Mets organization. He looked talented but raw. He's still big but he definitely looks lighter than he was back then. He has struggled in the bigs for years. Too bad about the perfect game. It was definitely a hit.

He's the 12th pitcher in MLB history to lose a perfect game with 2 outs in the 9th. This is also the 2nd time this year that this has happened.

Here are the others:

Watched the ninth on MLB network, it was a great at bat by Chavez. Pence probably catches that ball a few years ago, too bad.

He struck out the batter on the pitch before the hit, but the umpire choked and didn't call it.

It was out of the strike zone, but yeah, when you're one out away from a perfect game you probably should be getting that call

There's something funky about this chart. That last pitch was not middle in as the chart suggests if you look at the video.

First, I'm not sure what the chart you see says, but the one I linked to doesn't show the 6th pitch in the middle of the plate... It's almost 1/2 a foot low and inside (to the LH Chavez) from the middle of the strike zone. Just because a pitch is a strike doesn't mean it's over the meat of the plate.

I've uploaded a pic of the point of contact for Chavez, kind of misleading because the camera is off to the side, but it looks like a Pitch F/X got the placement correct.

Does he always pitch from the stretch with no one on?
