Default Predict A Plausible Off Season Trade

I'll start with two possible trades that I find plausible. I should note that I have not read any rumors along these lines. These are just possible deals that make sense to me.

1. Sox deal Alexei Ramirez to St. Louis for 3rd baseman David Freese

Ramirez and Freese are about the same age. Both have had so-so 2013 seasons but better seasons in the past. The Cardinals want to move Matt Carpenter to 3B and put Kolten Wong at 2B. The Cards definitely need a SS.

The Sox have a number of internal middle infield options with Gordon Beckham, Marcus Semien, Micah Johnson and Leury Garcia. The Sox don't have a lot of options at 3B, although Conor Gillaspie has had decent rookie season. Gillaspie has had all kinds of trouble with lefties, though, and a right handed hitting 3rd baseman, like Freese, makes sense.

2. Sox deal Adam Dunn to Baltimore for OF Nick Markakis.

The Orioles need a DH. Dunn would be a good, complimentary player for Baltimore and could hit lower in the order. Markakis has had an off year but is a good, all around athlete and a strong defensive outfielder.

Markakis and Dunn are about the same age and both have one year left on their contract at a similar amount. Markakis does have a team option for 2015.

Any thoughts on these possible deals or others?

I predict this thread will be filled with implausibility.

It's very hard to predict trades but the list is very long on guys that I never want to see in a Sox uniform after this year.

That is always a possibility. But I think we disregard the garden variety Brent Morel for Clayton Kershaw preposterous proposals.

How is this a plausible trade? Does the "need for a DH" inspire a team to trade one player for another with weaker offensive and defensive skills? The Orioles let Mark Reynolds go to free agency after he essentially put up the numbers they could expect from Dunn.

I know fans never want to see Dunn in a White Sox uniform again, but I don't see how this sort of trade doesn't get a special color.

You should have seen Gene Freese who Veeck picked up in 1960 for Johnny Callison.

De Aza for Trout.

I'd do that in a heartbeat.

This is extremely hard to do considering how few Sox have any tangible worth.

Come on, nobody has suggested (yet) that we trade Chris Sale for the entire 40 man roster of the 2013 World Series Champs.
