Yankees sign Brian Roberts to play 2B. You can kill the "Yankees would want Keppinger" fantasy.

An obvious choice to replace Boone Logan in the NYY bullpen!

Pass.
Does everyone in the lineup have to be a HR hitter?

Of course not. But if you're trading top talent for a rent, or paying them a big contract, they need to do more than get on base 35% of the time.

We just traded a pitcher (who would not have netted us Gardner) for our future Brett Gardner and we'll have him for 7 years, not one.

In other news, I see the Yankees will sign Thornton for 2/7 mill. Yikes.

Maybe not...

Meanwhile, the Twins continue to have a pretty good offseason, trading Ryan Doumit to the Braves for Sean Gilmartin, then signing Kurt Suzuki.

Kurt Suzuki has been a White Sox killer over his career with some huge hits, including game winners. He's only has a .290 average against the Sox with five homers in 41 games, but he has had some huge game-changing hits.

Youk to Rakuten in Japan at $4 mil for a 1-year deal. He can earn an extra $2 mil in incentives.

The Orioles will not be signing Grant Balfour.

That team will never win anything as long as Angelos is the owner.

The Brent Morel era is over, as the Blue Jays claim him:

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...areer/4198513/

Japanese pitcher Tanaka is coming to MLB for any team willing to pay a $20 million posting fee + whatever his salary ends up being. He went 24-0 with a 1.27 ERA in Japan last season.

Cubs, Yankees, a few other teams said to be interested. Yankee fans seem to be really excited about this guy.
