If it's less than 25 mil/year, it's a steal for the Angels.

Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi

Yankees were among teams scouting Cuban free agent shortstop Aledmys Diaz at his showcase today, sources say @FOXSports1

Aledmys Diaz also scouted today by Cardinals, Blue Jays, Mariners, Padres, Giant

Any word on what they gave to acquire him? Supposedly Sox were taking a long look at Lobatan, as well. Not sure if he's a long term answer at the position, but Christ, he has to be better than what we have now.

At this point, it almost makes you wonder if the front office is just assuming that Alex Jackson will still be there at #3 overall.

The Nats dealt away Nate Karns, a decent power arm. Tampa is also sending two low-level prospects north.

While the Sox catcher situation is less than ideal, I don't quite get the Lobaton love. He's good at neither defense nor offense.

True but he's at the least an average MLB quality player, and what we have at the position now is pretty well below that. But it seems the Nats paid a bit too much.

We could get by with Phegley, he's at least a decent defensive catcher, even if he has no bat.

Gonna be happy when all the low-average, high-strikeout, homer or nothing guys like Flowers are gone. Maybe that's as soon as next offseason.

I'm sorry, are you insinuating that Tyler Flowers hits home runs?

Holly Jesus, Gardner a $13 million per season ballplayer.

$52 million for 4 seasons.

Ridiculous.

Over the last 4 seasons, the guy is averaging over 6 WAR per 650 plate appearances. That's good.

Also, $13 million is pretty average for an even slightly above-average player these days.
