1) What kind of impact will the young players make?
2) Is there really no better option at catcher than Tyler Flowers?
3) What if last season wasn't a fluke and this core really is that horrible?

Many more than three questions, but here are the ones I'll be looking at:

1. Will Abreu emerge as the new long term power hitter of the Sox and define an era like Thomas or Konerko?

2. Have the Sox finally found Crede's replacement in Davidson at third?

3. Will John Danks return to form and be the solid #2 starter?

Optimism can return if the answer to two of three of these is yes.

Quintana is your #2.

The guy was solid last season and he and Sale combined for 2nd in WAR duo in baseball.

This guy is legit.

Question is, which RHP claims #3?

Danks is #4.

Is the pitching any good?

Do we have any speed?

Will the defense be improved?

1) Will this team at least resemble a team of professional hitters this season?
2) Catcher?
3) 5th starter.

That was kind of my point. Danks and his contract have to be more than a number 4 starter. No knock on Quintana, and I think your ranking is correct coming out of 2013, but Danks has to step if the Sox have a chance.

Johnny's velocity returning this year is the key to his success. I don't think he can come close to what he was without it. He doesn't have the Buehrle like control to pitch at the speeds he did last year. Danks needs the 92-93mph that he used to have because the 87-89 he featured last year just wasn't good enough. If it doesn't return, we have ourselves a very expensive #5 starter for the next few years.

How does Abreu fare against MLB pitching?

Does Ventura justify the extension?

How do the guys acquired in the in season 2013/winter deals pan out?

1) Catcher?
2) Fire Hawk Harrelson
3) Will Ventura pull his head from out of his ass this year? Why do we have 3 first basemen on our team?
