Default Great Article on our New pen and how it was put together

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/rick-ha...0283--mlb.html

Exciting stuff. Flipping players that dont fit the mold, park, or system.
Jones, Boggs, Belisario, Lindstrom, all 95+ with high GB rates
Downs high GB rates as well.

Going to be a fun bullpen this year. Only thing that worries me is we didn't have exactly Aparicio Ventrua and Vizquel behind our pitchers last year so hopefully the defensive metrics improve in 2014

I remember when it looked like we were going to get Peavy back when, many on here expressed concerns that he was coming from a pitcher-friendly ballpark where fly balls die before the fence.

Agree. Once he's free of a few more big contracts we'll really see what he can do.

Great article. Thanks for the link. Agreed on the need to improve infield defense.

This offseason is going so well for the Sox, it's almost a shame that real games are starting soon.

Well I don't think anyone expects the team to turn this whole thing around in a single off-season but hopefully there will be signs of life after last year's 99-loss nightmare.

Well I sincerely hope you are right. I know the team was in a different mode in 2013, but it seems like everyone is willing to grant RH a Mulligan for last off-season when his key pick-ups were Keppinger, Wise and Lindstrom.

Vegas has the Sox under/over at, I think, 76 wins. I don't think that would be such a bad season.

He was at least in part hamstrung by financial issues. He only had so much to spend. Now that he's got money to work with we are seeing him build the team to his specifications.

My take on that was the he didn't want to make too many changes in his first season, let the team sort itself out and go from there without making any major commitments. So he just brought in a couple role players. Picking up Keppinger seemed like a solid move at the time, and Lindstrom was a good pickup. Wise didn't really matter either way.
