Default Pitchers and Catchers Report Today

Now all we need is spring-like weather.

Cathers? When do catchers report? Did you buy Phegleys and Flowers for the lady on Valentine's Day?

At Camelback Ranch right now. Some players came out for about 30 minutes before the team's first real workout. Baines and KW were out. Most interesting part was Flowers, Phegley and Nieto alternating BP for about 20 mins. Phegley seemed to have the best reps...Nieto the worst.

I'm jealous that you are there, and I'm not. Thanks for the report! Keep us posted.

It was fun. Only a couple dozen fans, so easy to get around and watch from close up.

Unfortunately I couldn't stay for the first full squad workout. I went with my 2 year old and by 11:30 he was tired and hungry. When we left there were a handful of guys taking BP and warming up, but nobody who's face I recognized and most were wearing a practice uniform without numbers. Was still a great morning...can't get a better bang for your buck than watching the White Sox practice at beautiful Camelback Ranch for free!

Phegley should see nothing but breaking balls all spring training, maybe he will learn to hit one.

Bummer to hear that Jones is out indefinitely. Hopefully his injury (strained glut) heals up quickly and he can get some good work in and be 100% by opening day.

What's the best news to come out of Day 1 of White Sox spring training? John Danks says he's now 100% healthy.
Danks moved to Nashville, which happens to be the offseason home of pitching coach Don Cooper. Danks and Cooper met a couple times and spoke about things they can build on from last season.

A crowded roster is a good problem for #WhiteSox to have, writes @DanHayesCSN -- http://bit.ly/1dyevmP

Nate Jones
Hahn said the team would evaluate Jones — who informed trainers on Friday he suffered the strain 7-10 days earlier — early next week.

He can hit 220 as long as he plays plus D for all I care. I just want whoever our best defender is starting behind the dish at this point, because I expect little to nothing offensively from all of the candidates.

This basically, if we're not going to acquire a new catcher before the start of the season, we need the guy behind the plate who can help out the pitching staff the most.

Baseball is back, so excited.

Good point. Especially w young pitchers, defense and working with the staff are not the same thing. It may end up being a tradeoff getting offense from any of them. Hopefully one catcher emerges who is in tune with the pitchers and can at least keep runners honest.
