The funny thing in all this is, had Gomez kept his mouth shut and put his head down and ran from the moment he swung, he probably WOULD have had his home run - an inside the park one, but it still counts the same on the stat line.

Agreed. Gomez is a jerk, but this one is on the pitcher.

Exactly! You want to shut him up? Strike him out next time up.

Here is a good article on the incident......

I'm sorry, I 100% disagree with that, Cole can play dumb all he wants and pretend like he wasn't trying to make a big deal of anything, but he still walked up to the guy and gave him a piece of his mind which is completely uncalled for. You can believe his BS about not saying anything to incite Gomez but I'm pretty sure you can hear at least 1 f-bomb on the video replay.

I'll at least say this for Gomez, at least he owns his own **** whereas Gerritt has the audacity to claim that after he was shown up he was being "aw, gee whiz I didn't mean to start anything," by yelling at another player. Come on. Don't write checks your ass can't cash.

He didn't walk up to Gomez though, he was covering the play at third and turned his head and clearly said something to Gomez as he was walking back the mound and Gomez flipped out. And I'm sure that most pitchers would say something similar to Gomez.

Bull****, you can clearly see on the replay that Cole takes several steps towards Gomez after the play is over and he has the dead ball.

This is a pretty ridiculous article. Reads like it was written by someone who has never been a part of any competitive sport on any level. Like he has no idea what its like being in the heat of the moment.

I found something pretty funny in the video. After Gomez takes his tumble, it looks like he is looking for a teammate to hide behind "acting" like "hold me back, hold me back"

Suspension's from Sunday's ruckus:

Brewers: Martin Maldonado (5 games), Carlos Gomez (3 games)
Pirates: Travis Snider (2 games), Russell Martin (1 game)

All 4 were also fined.

Surprised to see Cole did not get any sort of punishment.
