Tough break for #Yankees, who place 1B Mark Teixeira on the 15-day DL with right hamstring strain and recall C Austin Romine

Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 6m
The #Yankees will now go with Johnson as their everyday 1B

Bobby Parnell partially tore his MCL in his elbow. Parnell will be sidelined for the next two weeks and will then be reevaluated to see whether he will require surgery on his elbow.

Clayton Kershaw sidelined with a back injury. Although he is scheduled to return by the end of April

Jose Reyes is back on the 15 DL once again, re-injuring his hamstring

Is anyone surprised that Teixeira is hurt? How many games has he missed the past three years? I think that whole Yankee lineup is going to be on the DL before the end of April.

He missed about 40 games in 2012 and nearly the entire season last year. Was pretty reliable prior to that. That contract is unsurprisingly a pretty bad one.

The 18 Tommy John surgeries does not yet include Jameson Taillon, Cory Gearrin, Corey Williams or Brian Moran. All are set for TJ surgery.

MLB Injury NewsRays pitcher Matt Moore may need elbow surgery http://dlvr.it/5M6Swn #MLB

Mike DiGiovanna
#Angels were counting on Sean Burnett, Brian Moran for stout LH relief. One done for year, other still on shelf.

Joel Sherman ‏@Joelsherman1 2m

Column 1 http://bit.ly/Q3oLe5 trying to figure out why there have been so many injuries this year in MLB

Dr. James Andrews
"One issue is that high school pitchers are throwing too hard, and their ligaments aren't maturing quickly enough to keep up with their velocity. Year-round baseball is another issue, as is throwing breaking balls at a young age. High school pitchers who throw harder than 80-85 MPH also run the risk of having arm issues."

Cleveland 2B Jason Kipnis (abdominal) is questionable tonight versus the LA Angels.

Steve Stone spoke with a friend of Kipnis and was told that it may be an oblique injury.

UPDATE:
Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien White Sox won't face Jason Kipnis in this series. Indians have placed him on the 15-day DL with, what else, strained oblique.
