Another question? Didn't the Sox invest more money into scouting this year when Hahn took over? I thought I read somewhere they did.

Kid looks to have some filthy stuff. If he's throwing at 94mph moving and a slider to go along with it, wow

What is Hemond doing with the DBacks? Some sort of consultant?

On a side note, Hemond is without a doubt one of the nicest and most engaging baseball people I've ever met.

Welcome to the team Carlos! Glad to have you aboard.

As far the other Chicago team, it was definitely signing a guy that they could get for way under slot.

He is an assistant to the president -- basically Derrick Hall's advisor.

And yes, he's one of the loveliest dudes this side of creation.

I love this Caray interview with Hemond.
He talks about trading for Chester Lemon.

And also, early in the interview, it proves that deals are cut in phone booths at airports (who was that guy who would overhear Kenny Williams at O'Hare?).
Also discuss Dick Allen's retirement.

That's why Burdi would have made a ton of sense at 44. Adams is getting nice reviews, no doubt. But Burdi could have helped this team quite possibly later this year and certainly going into 2015.

BPA - I don't think you're filling needs in this draft the way you would in other drafts (specifically the NFL and NBA). Perhaps you fill a developmental void with your first pick, but this draft chalks up to BPA, in my opinion.

You don't pass up on a potential ace like Spencer Adams for a college closer. Short term thinking and drafting for need gets you the 2013 White Sox.

Exactly!!!

What is the biggest White Sox Need? DEPTH AND TALENT IN THE MINORS.

You need 50 rounds of BPA, not 50 rounds of "Well, in 4 years he might throw 200 IP at the MLB level, but this guy can give us 20 IP THIS YEAR!!!"

Agreed, the development time is so long that it's hard to accurately project out 3-4 years in the MLB plus, let's be honest, from an organizational standpoint, the Sox need help basically everywhere.

And this is a very deep draft for High School Arms. While you have a lot of volatility there, if you hit gold on 2 or 3 of them plus Rodon, there is a possibility to jump your farm system 10-15 spots on this draft alone.
