Aaaaaaand more hamstring issues

Smith's was apparently worse than Abreu's (listening on the radio, not watching on TV), but I still find myself more worried about the big guy.

Asd Steve Stone yesterday said during the broadcast, if you are a touch-feel pitcher who doesn't throw 100 MPH a six man rotation basically ruins you. Starting one game a week doesn't allow you to get into that "touch/feel/control" groove that those type of pitchers need to have success.

Who on the current staff is like that, though?

Injury News...(You thought it was over didn't you?)

Abreu left game with hamstring tightness. Day to Day (Aren't we all???????)

Kevan Smith grabbed his leg running to second base and left the game accompanied by trainers.

I am (casually) watching the game. It feels like spring.

Smith actually rolled his ankle rounding second. He was carted off the field. Xrays were negative for a fracture. Ugh.

Story on the Sox web site says he walked off the field accompanied by team trainers.

We don't really know if Hector can start with past injuries and if he pitches well for 6 innings. He might be a bridge guy in the 5th and 6th innings.

I am so sick of this spring training.

I don't care whether we are supposed to compete or not because this is ridiculous. Every day someone is getting hurt. Make it stop.

They could put Fulmer in the pen for a year, with still an eye to start. Many good pitchers have started out that way (Sale, e.g.).
Santiago, Gonzalez and Shields are here to eat innings so that young pitchers don't have to be rushed. We can hope to get lucky that one has a great year and can be moved....the goal should be to get this team built up to start contending next season.
The bullpen has some reasonable July possibilities, however.
If Engel can hit...man that would be a big plus.
On a side note, at least we don't have Fister.

Except itís not even ďbad luck.Ē Weíre nowhere near the top of the list when it comes to days lost due to injuries. Refusing to acknowledge a fact doesnít make the fact go away.
