Wow. Youíre crazy. We are ONLY beating the Yankees and Cubs but will lose to the Red Sox on our way to the World Series.

I understand hyperbole, but I don't understand how we can beat the Cubs in the playoffs on our way to losing to Boston in the Series.

Will there be a surprise realignment at the All-Star break?

Was not impressed one bit by Shields. His stuff was flat (that's putting it nicely) and I don't believe he hit over 90 mph on his fastball. He had little command on his off speed offerings and entirely too many of them floated right over the heart of the plate.

Against a good team, he's toast. But hey if he has a great first half that's terrific! The Sox can trade him for something useful. I got it let's trade him back to the Padres for Tatis! How about it?

I donít dislike the guy at all. I would love him to hit 486 homers this year!

I agree. All Shields did was turn a potentially horrendous outing into merely a bad one.

That being said, Iíll just take the 6 innings and be done with it. Since I hold out no hope of Shields providing even league-average results, all I ask of him is to please be durable this season, and donít let the door hit him in the ass after this contract mercifully ends.

Shields looked much better than you are giving him credit for. Also, his first inning was hurt by Anderson's olť of that ball that should have been a double play. It wasn't ruled an error, but Shields easily could have gotten out of that only giving up two. Shields had Soler so off balance later that he hit a little pop up to Abreu that didn't go past the mound and probably wasn't higher than 20 feet in the air. Shields isn't a fastball pitcher anymore. He kept them off balance enough to shut them down for the next five innings with groundballs and weak popups. I was more concerned with what I saw out of the bullpen in the way of walks.

Though there was a *lot* to like about today's drubbing, there was also some things that had my head in my hands. But I expected that last part, so I'm really just revelling in this glorious glow of beating KC silly after the horror of 2009 - 2016.

It may have gotten lost among the home run barrage, but I loved the baserunning today. Not that it affected the outcome, but there were four or five extra bases taken today that would not have been possible in the past. It looks like the plodding station-to-station days are over.

I may not know much, but putting a 14-spot on the board will certainly help our odds each game.
