Considering they were ranked anywhere between 26th and 29th on most preseason power rankings, league-worst is a definite possibility, depending on what teams like the Tigers, Royals, Braves, Reds, and Padres do.

Why bother? Like LoveYourSuit said, just get this series completely off the slate and hope we get better weather for the next homestand.

Very true. The only place I saw any number of people saying this team would be better than last year was WSI.

There might be common off days later on but no team wants to lose those valuable off days.

Playing the game if you can was the right choice.
The Mariners don't make a return trip to Minnesota this season. The Twins cancelled the game against them Sunday anyway.

Just sayin'

I disagree that playing the game in mid 30's weather with freezing temps and snow in the area was the right choice. It was ****ty for whatever fans showed up (and it's the fans who pay the freight, their comfort should take priority) and it was ****ty on the players who had to play through it.

There's no need for it, none.

Just my opinion.

I don't know...maybe to try to actually get some fans to come out and maybe make a little more money by having more than a handful in the stadium?

The Mariners were able to get a jump on travel, and they already had the first two games of the series done. Totally different situation.

The warm front is not getting here soon enough to make tomorrow and Wednesday a whole lot better, so biting the bullet is the right call.

As for the fans, theyíre getting the same freebies they would have gotten with a postponement.

Good point. That's been a major issue for awhile now.

You saw the setup in the infield. There was zero chance of him getting an outside pitch he could hit to right with that positioning. Besides the fact that he pulls everything.

Whoever posted days ago that they won't drop under .500 again was right. They're here to stay.

And this time, itís happening with a capable catcher behind the plate.

The pitchers and catchers change, yet the problem remains consistent.

Looks like I'll be breaking out the VHS tapes and DVD's of better seasons a lot earlier then I expected.

Pretty sure this is Toronto's only trip to town this year isn't it?

I took today's game as a game for the rebuild. Was it frustrating to suck with RISP? Yes. Is it a symptom of a team-wide funk? For sure. This is one for the rebuild. We lost this game because we had an over-the-hill starter give up four runs. We battled and the ones we wanted to produce, produced. Moncada and Delmonico had great games, and our bullpen didn't COMPLETELY suck. All in all, that's not a bad performance from a rebuild perspective.

At the end of the day, Gonzalez and Shields should not be pitching for this team. Rodon and another minor leaguer should be out there. We are not going to win titles, and we have a glut of starters in the minor leagues. I have no problems suffering through a rotating fifth and fourth starter via the minors, but I do have a problem watching Shields/ Gonzalez lob lollipops to opposing teams.

I am not saying call up Kopech. I really think he is a July/ August call up like Giolito/ Moncada/ Lopez of last year. He needs more time to season in AAA, and he is still a baby.

The hitting I am fine with. Some of these guys won't be here long either. Leury, Engel, Davidson, etc. Still, it is nice to play them to see if we could get some kind of luck here.

I agree with the general feeling that we may be worse this year than last year. Surprisingly, those losses won't come from the youth. Rather, they will come from the Gonzo/ Shields in the rotation and the ragged arms in the pen (though I think we are beginning to see a formation of something good with Soria/ Jones/ Avilan/ Rondon).

I still think you have to be a little patient there-if his command is off- you might get one out over the plate a bit.
