Default Sox announce 2018 schedule

Interesting that they play the Cubs near the end of the season. Wonder what the reasoning is behind it. Looks like some road trips to NL Central teams are in order.

Looks like they play in StL in the middle of the week again. I feel like Sox fans always get screwed out what could be a nice weekend road trip. Have we ever played in StL on a weekend?

Was also hoping the Pittsburg series would be on a weekend as I've been wanting to check out that ballpark. I just don't see a mid-week trip to Pittsburgh happening.

Playing the Cubs at home at the end of the season could be interesting.

From a revenue perspective, I doubt playing the Cubs in late September is a good thing. I can't see the advance ticket sales being nearly as high for these games in September as they are in June - August.

I imagine many other teams aren't keen to have us visit on a weekend; they probably would want a team with a fan base that shows up in greater numbers to visit on a weekend - Yankees, Boston, etc.

Love it. We will have Kopech and Eloy up for sure by then. Also a great opportunity for the Sox to play spoilers to them also in the NL Central race.

By losing to all the Cubs' division foes? ;)

Yeah, I like the scenario of our young studs sending Maddon's crew home early. Let's hope they're not going for a three-peat at that point.

This is the result of the new collective bargaining agreement which calls for more off days.

2018 will be the first time since there were only 20 teams in the league that all the teams open on the same day.

That weekend trip to Seattle in late July looks awfully tempting.

The Sox game in Oakland on Tuesday, April 17th will be free admission. Seriously. They will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the A's first home game at the Oakland Coliseum that day.

Very odd scheduleing on the road with Detroit late in the year. The Sox play against the Tigers at Comerica, come home for two series, and then go back to Detroit. Can't remember anything like that ever before.

Also bummed about the StL and Pittsburgh series being mid-week.

That actually sounds like a perfect matchup not to charge for.

Not just the 50th anniversary of their first game at the Coliseum, but it was the A's first game in Oakland period. They moved from Kansas City after the end of the previous season.

By the way, now that the Raiders are heading to Vegas, I think the A's will finally get a new ballpark in Oakland and the Coliseum's days will finally be numbered.
