In other roster news, the team claimed catcher Dustin Garneau off waivers from the A’s. Miguel Gonzalez was moved to the 60-day DL to open a 40-man spot.

It would be nice if Tilson could solidify CF for the next couple of years to allow the Sox the luxury of not having to rush Robert. Iím just looking for solid defense, good speed on the bases, and a respectable batting average.

Eloy is ticketed for the long term in LF; this would allow Rutherford, Adolfo, Basabe, and any other dark horse candidates to compete for the RF spot, which perhaps Palka is holding down for the time being. Longer term, Palka joins Delmonico and Davidson in a long-term open competition for DH duties.

I suspect in 2021 the Sox outfield left to right will be Jimenez, Robert and Rutherford. Palka and Delmonico long gone and Davidson, maybe, around as a bat off the bench.

Yep. 2021 will be Year 2 of the 8-Peat (minimum).

I suspect you are right about that. Rutherford seems to have a better hit tool than Basabe or Adolfo.

Ideally, Basabe would develop into the teamís future CF, with either Rutherford or Adolfo taking a corner, Robert taking the other corner, and Jimenez becoming the primary DH.

I don't think Jimenez nor whomever his agent is, would agree to being a DH at such a young age unless there is an injury situation.

It’s his bat that will make him the money. He is not a good outfielder. He also won’t have any choice in the matter until 2024 at the earliest.

As far as free agency.

But remember the stink Frank Thomas made when he was asked to go to DH full time early in his career when the Sox and Mark McGwire were close to an agreement?

You can do things even if you aren't eligible for free agency.

I personally see Tilson as a 4th/5th outfielder(at best)- OK bat and glove, decent speed, zero power and a below average arm. Probably an upgrade vs. Engel but still a below par major league outfielder.

I didn't see the game on Saturday but on Friday the Tigers lined up so close in defensively for Tilson's AB. The Tigers CF was may be 60' from 2nd base.

I hope Tilson can succeed and make it on a MLB roster. I usually root for guys like him who battle back.
