Nice to see a Sox laugher, and guys hitting with RISP. Dylan Covey showed me something today too. Nice outing.

Great night for a lot of players, not so great for a few more.

2 strikeouts for Moncada. A walk is nice I guess. His home run came off a terrible curve and would probably have been disqualified by shoota.

I don't care this is against a bad team. Win, and the number in pct column gets bigger

Radio reports Garcia suffered a knee sprain. I’m guessing he’s out until after the All-Star break.

Outfield depth was already too thin as it was...

Bizarro night at the ballpark.

Dylan Covey seven excellent innings? Adam Engel 4-4 with a home run? These are players who are lucky to have major league jobs.

But as we see every year in spring training, hunger is a great motivator. Great job by Covey and Engel and the rest of the team tonight. Hold on to that attitude.

And, I have to say, great job Renteria for keeping these guys focused, and winning ugly for the first time all season. I loved the shots of the happy clubhouse...Gatorade baths for Covey and Engel, at least.

Too bad about Castillo, if the rumor is true. He was our best catcher since AJ, but if he's suspended for 80 games then the Sox need to void his contract and release him.

It was a great night to see a live game. Good performances, good for Covey.

Hell must have frozen over...Covey pitched very well.

Of course the Sox lose Castillo (non steroid PED suspension), L.Garcia (sprained knee), catchers Kevan Smith and Zavala both went on the DL.

Will the last healthy Sox player please turn out the lights when leaving the ballpark.

All you can do is laugh.

Since Narvaez is going to be the main catcher the next 2 1/2 months, barring something unexpected, you wonder how many passed balls he'll have when all is said and done, he's a seven right now in limited time, leading the league.

I hope Garcia's fine, but it's not like he needed development time, and the Sox have candidates to replace him.

Ryan Cordell, you picked the wrong year to be hurt.

No because it was a game changing moment. Not like he hit it with the Sox up 8-1 in the 8th. Shoots would have even given Crede credit for this one.

The TV guys said Covey picked up 5 ticks on his fastball from when he was here last. Whoever fixed Fry in Charlotte must've fixed him too. This has to stop!

Steve McCatty is the PC there.

Is a “tick” a MPH? If so, that’s honestly difficult to believe. But if true, he’s a completely different pitcher than the one we know from his major league performances.

Which, frankly, is what he looked like today.

A great night spoiled by the news of Castillo's impending suspension and Garcia's injury. Happy for Covey and Engel. If Leury is heading to the DL, maybe Tilson gets the call-up?

Yes he did. But Garcia improved markedly last year; this year was pretty blah, but it would be nice to see how he could do in a 2nd full season. This is the time for the auditions and there isn't much left in Charlotte to audition.
