Aaron owes Lucas a steak dinner for that eighth inning.

A huge drag. It's like Giolito just cannot get that 15th win.

Left a bad taste in my mouth, this one.

I know in the big picture it doesn't matter but the Palka stuff is getting a little ridiculous, no?

I get that the roster at this point is not deep but it's hard not to hold back an audible laugh when he is announced as a pinch "hitter."

To be frank, it kinda seemed like a slap in the face to the 20,000 faithful who made the trek out there tonight.

Down by a run in the last frame?

One bullet left?

And he gets the call?

Makes you wonder if this organization leads the universe in trotting out warm bodies who have long since proven they have no business on a MLB roster.

We all know who the "core" of this team is moving forward. We also know the roster will not be filled out by all stars.

I don't think it's too much to ask to not have to watch - literally - a collection of the worst in the sport fill out those spots.

Unless Rick Hahn's master plan was to have comically poor performance out of the DH spot this year (which I don't think it was?) he's got a long way to go to prove he can supplement the core with serviceable parts.

His track record thus far is not good...

It's reached the point of being fascinated to see just how low his batting average can go. I feel sorry for the kid; I've never seen anything like it. You'd think just pure dumb luck would have had a couple of bleeders or bloopers succeed by now.

Agreed with feeling sorry for him. My intention wasn’t to bash him personally. He provided a lot of fun moments last year and I was rooting for him.
I’d love nothing more for my post to be dragged up in a couple years when he is flourishing to show what an idiot I am. Wouldn’t be the first time.

Pretty rare for Bummer and Colome to give up runs in the same game. They've both been reliable. Bummer should have gotten out of the 8th scoreless, but he made a terrible throw to second on a come-backer and the Sox couldn't turn what should have been an inning ending double-play.

Giolito has put together a heck of a year. I can think of three starts since the all star game that he deserved to get a W.

The whole 2nd half has been a "regression to the mean." The underlying numbers didn't support the Sox being 2 below .500 at the All Star break; nor have they supported the bullpen being so flawless in late innings with the lead.
