Hawk was bad at the end, but Benetti is painfully bad. We'll probably have to deal with him for the next decade plus as well.

Hawk sucked. Iím glad I no longer have to mute the TV and listen to music during Sox games.

Jason Benetti actually calls the game and doesn't wax poetic about himself or Yaz for 9 innings straight. He's much better than Hawk ever was.

Or not.

They are different, for sure; I liked Hawk and I like Jason. The gimmicky stuff (none of which, I am guessing, was solely Benetti's idea) is no worse and even a bit better than what is being foisted off on us on a daily basis in all forms of broadcasting and media. I'm not even on any social media myself, and never will be, but I have accepted that to some extent this is The Way We Live Now.

Same here, I've been a social media refusenik since day one. But I accept that young people are into it, and that making an effort to engage them may prove to be productive.

I spend a fair amount of time with young people, one way or another, and I think it helps me to not be such a grouch about change. Plus if I'm nice they might remember to send me family photos by text or email and not just post them where I can't see them.

Benetti is a breath of fresh air!
Now we next need to move on the radio team.

The Star Tribune reported today that the Twins have started negotiations with both Dallas Keuchel and Craig Kimbrel.

Looks like the Twins think it's their year.

Just a wild guess: so are other teams.

It's mostly surprising given the commitment necessary.

They might be willing to do one year deals so they can get back on the market without the QO hanging around their necks.

I don't mind Jason other than he has the stereotypical announcer's voice that's kind of annoying.

But yeah, the radio dual is absolutely brutal and they really need to do something about it.

They didn't wait until after the draft to sign for 3 months. If they wanted a short term deal, they would have signed that before the season started.

Why would a team give up a draft pick to get a one year rental?
