Default What was Hawk's finest broadcast moment?

While some might prefer Hawk memories away from the booth (championship rally, jersey retirements), what is the one moment from him that really stuck with you as a television viewer of White Sox baseball?

For me, it's Buehrle's perfect game. The emotion he conveyed as it got closer and how let it all out when it was completed. People tend to hate how he merely repeated "Yes" over and over, but honestly, what could anyone else watching in the stands or at home that day think at that moment? It matched perfectly with the shots of Mark beginning to get mobbed by his teammates and the crowd reaction. It's a soundtrack that, at least to me, seems to age well with time. When the Sox put together the montage for his career at the end of the season, that has to come either at or near the end. I will never forget the excitement of that day, and Hawk perfectly reflected all of us.

I don't know about "moments," but my two all-time personal favorite calls:

"C'mon Timo! C'mon Timo!"

"JOE! CREDE!"

The Joe Crede home run against the Tribe when the Sox lead over the Indians was down to 1 1/5 games in late September of 2005.

C'mon Timo! was the first thing that popped into my mind. That's my favorite.

Ditto.

Just adding that I also loved Hawk saying "History!" when he called Buehrle's perfect game. My brothers and I still say "History" when something good happens.

This and everything else that's been mentioned so far are the ones that stick in my mind.

Especially "JOE! CREDE!" and "History!"

The perfect game was spot on.

The call when it was an infield pop up against the Mets and Beckham came out of nowhere to screw it all up was excellent too.

One thing about Hawk is those losers at Deadspin hated him for being a homer....just listen to that Beckham call. That's not a homer call, it's a baseball fan who just watched an easy play not executed by professionals at he's ticked and it was entertaining.

I've got news for the dorks at Deadspin, in life everything can't be "fair" and everything isn't "even" and that sometimes someone will stick out and be different and there is nothing wrong with not being just like everyone else. What make Hawk great was he wasn't like the other boring baseball announcers.

I think Hawk's meltdown when Jose Quintana got ejected in Tampa Bay for throwing behind Zobrist. (I was at the game by coincidence) heard about it online and looked up the highlights online afterward in my hotel room.

"What are you doing, Wegner?!?"

- part of his Tampa rant ("You gotta be bleepin' me!")

The game when Buehrle got ejected from while he would have broken some record for most consecutive 5 inning starts was classic. I wanna say it was vs the Orioles & involved throwing at Palmeiro.

I'm going outside the box here but I think this was Hawk's best moment:

July 3, 1993 - Former Sox announcer and Hall Of Fame pitcher Don Drysdale was found dead in his hotel room in Montreal of a heart condition. Drysdale, then a Dodgers announcer, worked for the Sox mostly on television from 1982 through 1987. His broadcast partner Ken “Hawk” Harrelson broke down on air, while making the announcement during the Sox 9-6 loss to the Orioles at Comiskey Park that evening.

That night Hawk showed his human side and the respect that he had for his friend. Those two really were a very good broadcasting team because Hawk was doing more analyst-type speaking rather than play by play. He did a few innings of it but Don did most of them. I'm sure somewhere on the internet you can find some video of them working together.

The biggest homer announcers today in baseball are the Yankees Michael Kay and John Sterling...not even close.
