He is gonna be an All-Star this year, and we are all the luckier for it.

I almost gave up on this one early. Glad I kept it on. Great come back win. Manny who?! Hopefully Eloy is ok.

Walk that **** off!

Anytime you come back from an 8-1 deficit it's a good thing. Not a perfect game by any sense but the offense kept it coming.

Top 5 guys were 16/26, 2 HR 10R 9RBI and a walk. They also only struck out 4 times combined. WOW!

Edit: My brain was racking thinking Abreu hit two HR but of course he's credited with a single and being out on the one where he passed Tim on the basepaths.

Jimenez had struck out three straight with heat and then decided to go off-speed to Tim. Wrong move.

Top 3 in the lineup were 11-for-17, 8 R, 7 RBI, 2 HR.

The positive: They came back from down 8-1 to win. That's a big shout out to them. 3rd time this year they have trailed in the 7th inning or later and won.

The negative: More baseball stupidity in the field trying to catch baseballs (Eloy) and on the bases (Jose')

Pitching was terrible, looking at you Rodon and Fulmer.

Don't know if anyone read the story in the Sun-Times tonight regarding Rick's little press conference before the game. He was surprisingly candid in his assessment of the start this year and was honest about how the "veterans" have been performing.

I appreciated his candor. More of that please! A memorable game that's for sure. It won't hang in the Louve' but at least it was a win.

You just knew he was going to be full-throttle at the plate after making that amazing play in the top of the inning.

Where did Jose pass Anderson? I watched the replay on mlb, and I didn't see it and Jose was jogging so slowly I can't imagine him passing anyone.

They just showed a replay of the Abreu home run that wasnít. Daryl Boston is standing right behind Anderson, presumably telling him to hold up. He never looked in Abreuís direction.

Were they thinking about a possible tag-up and advance if the ball had been caught? The Tiger outfielders donít have particularly good arms.

Thatís what I was figuring. Especially after the crap throw home from left when McAnn scored.

Yeah Tim tags and makes second easy if that ball gets caught. It's on Abreu not to pass him.

Rodon was terrible for sure.
Fulmer only walked 1 in 3 innings and struck out 5. Is there something to work with there? Last I saw him pitch, he was trying to paint the bottom of the knee but he didn't really seem to have great stuff even when throwing strikes.

And Rondon has been quietly having a nice season.

It looked like Anderson was going back to tag up at first, thinking the ball was going to be caught, and Jose beat him to the bag. I couldn't tell if Anderson actually touched first after Jose got there or if there was a more subjective determination -- Jose started his turn when he knew the ball was out and Anderson hadn't resumed running toward second.

Anderson Abreu and Boston almost totally blew the game

But

Anderson redeems himself in a huge way.

Anderson has almost hit his total WAR from 2 years ago. If he keeps this up, and not even .383, just say .300 -.900 OPS, we could be talking about a 6-8 WAR year from him. Insane.
