Why do you find it difficult to believe that? Unless you were on Wheeler's negotiating team, your beliefs are meaningless since you do not know what discussions took place for their strategy. If he was bound an determined to play in a certain part of the country, no money in the world would have pulled him away. The contract he got from the Phillies sets not him up for life, but his children and their children are now set up for life. A 160M offer from another team outside the geographic area would not have really been a game changer.

By the way, ask Wayne Gretzky how credible it is that geography trumps money.
