I like this move for both teams, honestly.

I also do not like this trade for the Rays either and I like Jose Martinez as a player. This is very un-Rays like to give up a young pitcher the caliber of Liberatore. Maybe they see something the Cardinals do not.

I saw Liberatore throw an awesome game down here a couple of years ago in HS. Project for sure, but man he was impressive. Great frame.

I love picks getting traded. It’s by far the biggest crap shoot, but that’s a valuable pick and some interesting extra bonus money that becomes available with it to go along with a good prospect.

Yeah, I don’t think it makes sense for anyone.

If the Twins pitchers can be just average their offense will take them far again. I don't think last year was a fluke.

Garver
Sanó
Arraez
Polanco
Donaldson
Rosario
Buxton
Kepler
Cruz

That's a good offense.

Donaldson's line against the White Sox in 30 games is .370/.496/.800

That .800 is his slugging

Dammit, Braves! You had one job.

My sentiments exactly. It was the first thing I thought when I heard the news.

Yeah, he's torched Sox pitching over the last 5 years and I'm not looking forward to seeing him play us 19 times this season. He definitely makes the Twins a better team. The good news is that he's 34, so we can hope that they only get 1 or 2 good seasons out of him at the most.

Nelson Cruz turns 40 on July 1, so maybe he's due for that inevitable decline. We'll see.

Cruz had his best season ever last year by 100 OPS points at the age of 38. That's some Barry Bonds **** right there.

Oh no doubt. I'm not banking on the idea that Cruz definitely will fall of a cliff this year by any means. I just don't see him or Donaldson as necessarily long-term threats to the Sox either because 2020 is just the beginning of our competitive window and isn't a go-for-broke year for us anyway.

I don't think he'll fall off much unfortunately. I'm more implying a fishiness to having your best season by far at age 38 with also having a PED suspension history.

Nobody in the Twins organization thinks he will be top-flight after Year Two, but guaranteeing four years is what put them over the top against the Braves.

He is at an age where (sometimes) the skill set falls off the cliff.
