Never met the man but thank you for a website and forum that I've really enjoyed immensely over the years.

My condolences to his family. Peace and prayers.

Rest In Peace, West.

Such sad news. My heartfelt condolences to Michelle and the rest of Michael's family.

I've enjoyed the fruits of FWC's labor since the Rivals days, and I have always been grateful for this community of Sox fans. It's too bad that cancer has claimed another from us. RIP West...

Sad news, indeed. Iím not around here, or at least not as vocal around here as often as many of you, but I still value this place a great deal. Sounds like in large part this is due to the efforts of West. So a posthumous thank you, good sir, for the years of enjoyment Iíve taken from your site. Rest in peace. And Go Sox!

Awful news.

My condolences to Michelle and Westís family and friends. I certainly appreciate everything he did for this website, allowing us all a forum to voice our opinions on so many different topics.

RIP

Personally, this board has meant so much to me. Not just to celebrate and commiserate about our Sox, but also as a haven away from the many troubles/stresses of my own life - even if for just a few minutes each day. I didn't know about FarWest's leadership of this site, but I am so glad he was there and it definitely made a difference for this Sox fan beyond just baseball.

Thank you.
My sentiments exactly...and look, we joined two months apart.

Not at all trying to turn the attention in this thread on me, but Iím curious whether others have experienced cancer? I have, at a much younger age and much more treatable. All good now. Still, it is alarming how much it can really feels like it steals the control we generally take for granted over our life and how we live it. How much more when it proves to end a life? Heartbreaking, every time.

Thanks Michael, thanks Michelle, for creating this community. Even if we all just argue with each other, at least weíre arguing about a shared passion in a civil way! Those communities are not easy to come by these days.

RIP West.
Cancer Sucks.

I've been posting here for 15 years, and this place wouldn't be here without him.

I'm forever grateful for WSI, for without it, I wouldn't have been able to share in so many memories with Sox fans while stuck in the Cublandia that is northern Kane County.

I'm more active on another forum now, but I wouldn't have found that one if it wasn't for WSI.

WSI is a place that I came out of my shell as an 18 year old autistic man. I was able to grow as a person because of this. It helped me immensely with being more comfortable talking to people, through a shared interest. For that, I will be forever grateful. WSI was the first forum I joined and posted on as a young man, after lurking for 2 years.

May he rest in peace.

Just as an aside, is Torn Labrum still with us?
I know he had been having issues many years ago, and disappeared from the forums about that same time.

Torn is still above ground. He has moved on to other chapters in his life. Married, living in another state.

Terrible news. I've been visiting WSI for so long now, I just take it for granted - it's quite an accomplishment West put together.

Deepest condolences to Michelle and family.

Very sorry to hear this news. West created something here that we all have come to take for granted.
