I have a feeling many feel this exact same way. I hope the Sox use their heads here.

It's all about waiting for the Yankees to cave. I believe the Sox have the best offer and he doesn't want to come here. All of the tweets etc about the Sox are to get the Yankees to offer more and that's it. He'll wait it out until they do. And I'm excited to watch the Sox with or without Manny Machado.

I don't think its accurate to say that Machado doesn't want to play in Chicago.

1. I think the Yankees are is preferred destination.
2. While The Sox probably have the best offer I think its lower than he expected.
3. I think Manny would be happy in Chicago but is in no hurry hoping the sox will have to increase their offer, and I don't blame him.

If he (or Harper) signs elsewhere, we will not know what the Sox' offer(s) was/are. It could have been more money than the team that got him/them, it could be less. But to automatically say it was less is nothing more than an assumption based on no evidence.

This is how I see it too.

I don't blame him either. I'd like to see him with the Sox, but I won't be all upset if he doesn't sign here.

I got the notification that my MLBTV subscription will auto-renew in a couple of weeks. Despite my lack of enthusiasm for the direction baseball in general is headed, I'll let it renew. I absolutely couldn't care less whether the Sox sign Machado. It's baseball; one guy doesn't have the impact he would in other sports. It's not Michael Jordan getting the ball every time down the court. He can still only bat every ninth player on offense. He can only field the ball when it's hit to him; he can't impose himself on the game.

Very well stated.

If he signs for less, I have no doubt that the Sox will leak that information.

Report is the Phillies are in the lead to land Harper which could be soon.

If the Phillies do get Harper, then it's down to the Padres/Sox and maybe Yankees? Though I'm still skeptical if they're actually in the bidding. If Machado chooses less to go to the Yankees, I'm okay with. If he chooses less for the Padres, well that's a very bad look for the organization as a whole. White Sox better make damn sure they are the top bidder, otherwise I don't see how this front office recovers from the sort of backlash that is bound to happen if they don't get Machado.

There is no way that the Sox spend $13 million on Machado's friends and then let themselves get outbid by the Padres. There is no way....
