Either Kopech sucks horribly, or he is bored. He looks like a horrible pitcher.

8 walks and 5 wild pitches isn't boredom. It also isn't a mental thing or something with his approach either... you'd think after the first 5 walks or so he would start attacking more. It has to be something mechanical. Hopefully he gets it ironed out soon.

Mental and mechanics can go hand-in-hand. You lose your release point, start tinkering to find it, get the mechanics all out of whack, and then don't feel like you'll ever throw a ball in the right place again.

Meanwhile, Dane Dunning is still a monster.

AAA - Kopech
AA - Dunning
Hi A - Cease
Low A - Battenfield
Kopech's brutal outing aside, those 4 could be part of the Sox rotation in a few years. Lot of talent on the bump tonight.

Man, I hope Kopech's struggles are short term and he can get back on track. He's had some brutal outings of late. Talk of him coming up to Chicago any time soon surely has been tabled for now.

He seems to have made the jump to AA no problem.

Yep, at least we had an outstanding outing by Dunning and pretty decent one
by Cease tonight.

Dunning: 8.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 10 K
Cease: 8.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 K

Battenfield had what might be his worst outing of the season tonight. Even so, his numbers tonight weren't awful either.

While Cease did not have his usual number of Ks, the nice thing about his outing tonight is he induced 12 groundouts to just 3 flyouts. That will keep the ball in the park. In his last outing, he gave up 3 solo HRs.

The great thing about Dunning is he knows how to pitch. That's something Kopech is going to have to learn if he wants to be successful.

Someday I hope to see Yosmer Solorzano and Yelmison Peralta pitch to Yermin Mercedes, in front of an infield of Yolmer Sanchez, Yeyson Yrizzari, Yoan Moncada, and Yustin Yurchak.

Part of the problem for Kopech IMO is the same as Moncada, they are surrounded with just a tall pile of Suck!

I know you need to play your game and not worry about the rest. But my goodness, its hard not to allow suckage to rub off on you when that's all you see around you. The Charlotte roster is as bad as the ML one.

The talent in the lower level is gelling very nicely together and winning.

It didn't seem to affect Covey, at least for the moment.

With more walks that strikeouts over his last three games I'd say he's either lost focus or his mechanics are off. If this is a focus issue because Charlotte is not a very good team that's a pretty lame excuse.

He does not deserve to get called up until he pitches better.

Agree with your last point. He needs a run like he had last year in order to get the call. He is a professional and has to perform like one to deserve the call up.

If he's that week mentally- he's not ready for MLB.
