Two of the best hitters in the game showed why they're two of the best hitters in the game, though neither is usually known for hitting for power. Altuve gets the last laugh as the Astros get to their third World Series.

Fun starts Tuesday in Houston. Closing it out in 6 should let Cole start Game 1 for Houston.

Power against power. No better way to end that series.

I think the Nats will go on 3 days rest for the Scherzer and Strasberg. That's fairly typical for World Series pitchers. If necessary they will both pitch in game 7.

Yes, both teams should see their rotations restart from the top starting game 4.

Yeah there's no way to understate how important this was given how the Astros bullpen had time to rest and for the most part pitched very well against that lineup last night.

Can't say enough about Altuve, what a tremendous player. But Houston's defense was spectacular last night and in this series as well. That Brantley double play was huge.

Should be a great series. Both teams starting pitching most likely evens out, but Houston has the better bullpen and better lineup. But the intangibles will be fun to work out. Many of the Astros have been to the WS before but Washington has had more rest and was super hot. I'll say Houston in 6.

Interesting. That great top of the rotation is not as memorable for the 2005 WS as closer Brad "Bad Taste" Lidge is. In 2005 the 40-something Clemens was near the end, and came out of Game 1 early with a hurt hammy. The other two did not figure in the results of Game 2 or 3; Pettitte pitched well in Game 2, but the bullpen. The real pitching duel, in terms of starters, turned out to be Game 4, Brandon Backe v. Freddy Garcia. Probably not many saw that coming.

Should be a fun Series.

The Astros open up as the most overwhelming favorite since the 2007 Boston Red Sox.

Against the 2007 Colorado Rockies who had won 21 of 22 games to get to the world series. The long break prior to the start of the world series, however, seemed to kill their momentum. I think we might see something similar this year.

Have you guys been able to use this site for the past week or so. It wasn't working for me for a while. Glad it's back, this site's archive is very very valuable.

Wonder if any fans saw the nats off at the airport. This should be a good Series.

NYY not making the WS in a whole decade is surreal. They should be back on track until the 2110s, where they won't win a pennant either.

I was a doubter, but maybe, just maybe we can win with pitching, defense and fundamentals.

It's refreshing that the HR rate is down. Down "50% from where they should be, if they'd continue the record breaking (6,776 regular season dingers!) pace."

"Baseball doesn't have an official explanation."

Source: WSJ Friday October 18 2019.

Of course they don't. At least the games in theory should be shorter.

Me too. I had trouble getting to it on my home network, but could get to it over my cell phone network, so I know the site was up the whole time. I was able to get to it from my home network by using a proxy server. No idea what the actual problem is/was.
